About Me

I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in January of 1999 to join the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, where I have served as a police officer for 9 1/2 years. During my time as an officer I have worked the Department's Community Policing Unit and also have patrolled various areas in the Las Vegas community. During that time I discovered that many community members didn't consider underage drinking and access to alcoholic beverages by minors to be a problem. Over the last 7 years I have championed this issue and continually worked to increase awareness at all levels, which include: parents, teachers, judges, and other law enforcement officers. In 2002, I worked with the Stand Tall Don't Fall Coalition and the Nevada Interscholastic Athletic Association (NIAA) to pass what came to be the first alcohol, drug and tobacco policy governing all Nevada high school athletes. This program gave standardized discipline for the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco for all Nevada high schools. My continued dedication to the prevention of access to alcohol by minors led me to be selected as a national trainer under Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE) for all law enforcement agencies and various coalitions.

In 1997 I received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Sacramento State University, which included an internship at the California State Capitol for State Senator Maurice Johannessen. In December of 2007 I completed all coursework towards a Master of Arts in Political Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with only my thesis left to complete.

I am a parent of two children who have been in the Clark County schools for 9 years. I have experienced many frustrations with the current school environment, including school safety and poor test scores. After speaking with various teachers, parents and school police officers I felt a need to put my efforts toward making a change in my school district, which led to my decision to run for Clark County School Trustee.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about my campaign and I encourage you to contact me with any issues you may have with the school system through the "contact me" tab on the page. I also welcome your volunteered support and efforts to help elect me to the Office of Clark County School Trustee District E.
